Movemento
Watchmaker at work
Services

Three services, scoped to what each watch needs

Each service at Movemento is designed for a specific situation. A watch in fair running order needs a different kind of attention than one being brought back from long storage or prepared to pass down the family.

Methodology

How the work is approached

Every job begins with an intake assessment: the watch is examined under magnification, the movement is checked for obvious condition issues, and the scope of the requested service is confirmed. If something is found that falls outside that scope, we discuss it before continuing.

Work is carried out by one technician throughout. There is no handoff between staff members. The person who assesses the watch is the person who services it and the person who returns it.

Lubrication is applied in the correct type and quantity to each component — not approximated. Timing measurements are taken before collection for mechanical movements. Pressure tests are run and recorded before any resealed watch is returned.

The written record produced for each job is kept in the workshop archive and a copy is provided to the owner. This creates a service history that is useful for future maintenance and — in the case of heirloom pieces — for whoever eventually inherits the watch.

1

Intake & assessment

Visual and mechanical check, scope confirmed, any out-of-scope findings noted before starting.

2

Service work

Disassembly, cleaning, part renewal, lubrication — carried out according to the service scope agreed at intake.

3

Measurement & verification

Timing analysis for mechanical movements; pressure test for resealed cases. Results recorded.

4

Documentation & return

Job sheet completed, copy provided to owner, watch returned with all findings explained.

Cleaning and lubrication
Service 01

Cleaning & Lubrication Tune-Up

฿3,600 · ~2 days turnaround

An external clean with a focused lubrication of accessible points to keep a sound movement running smoothly between full services. Aimed at owners maintaining a watch that is already in fair order. Includes inspection notes and a timing read.

This service is not a full strip-down — it's a targeted refresh of the accessible lubrication points and a thorough external clean. The movement is run through the timing machine after service so you leave with a readout showing rate and beat error. Suitable for watches that are running but haven't been serviced in the past two to three years.

What's included

  • External case and bracelet clean
  • Accessible movement lubrication points
  • Multi-position timing measurement
  • Written inspection notes with timing printout
  • Condition report on return

Best suited for

Owners of watches in fair running condition who want to extend the interval before a full service is needed. Mechanical or automatic movements. Watches that haven't been serviced within the past few years but aren't showing signs of serious wear.

Service 02

Water-Resistance Reseal & Pressure Check

฿19,000 · 1–2 weeks turnaround

Replacement of all seals followed by a staged pressure check to confirm the case holds to its stated rating. Aimed at owners of diver or sport pieces who want confidence before returning the watch to active use.

Gaskets degrade over time regardless of use. A seal that passed its original factory test may not hold after several years of thermal cycling — particularly relevant in Thailand's climate. This service replaces all accessible seals and tests the result with a calibrated pressure rig. The test result is documented and included with the job sheet.

What's included

  • Replacement of all case gaskets
  • Crown tube, case-back, and pusher seals renewed
  • Staged pressure test to stated ATM rating
  • Documented pressure test result sheet
  • External case clean on completion

Best suited for

Owners of diver watches, sport pieces, or any watch with a water-resistance rating that is used in or around water. Recommended every two to three years for actively worn sport watches in a tropical climate. Also appropriate before a holiday involving swimming or diving.

Service 03

Heirloom Rebuild & Documentation

฿31,000 · 8–12 weeks turnaround

A careful rebuild of a family heirloom with full written and photographic documentation of every step, so the work and the watch's story stay together. Aimed at owners preserving a piece for the next generation.

The documentation component is what distinguishes this service from a standard full movement service. Photographs are taken at each significant stage of disassembly and reassembly. Notes record the condition of every component, what was renewed, what was retained, and why. The finished dossier — archival notes and a presentation folder — travels with the watch from that point forward. The long turnaround reflects the care taken at each stage, not a backlog.

What's included

  • Full movement strip-down and ultrasonic clean
  • Component-by-component inspection under magnification
  • Renewal of worn or degraded parts where needed
  • Considered cosmetic case work
  • Step-by-step photographic record
  • Archival written notes on all findings
  • Presentation folder with complete dossier
  • Final timing data and condition report

Best suited for

Owners of family pieces — a grandfather's dress watch, a parent's anniversary gift — that carry meaning beyond their monetary value. Also appropriate for vintage watches where provenance and service history matter to a future buyer or inheritor.

Applied across all services

Secure custody

All watches held for service are stored in a locked, indexed cabinet. Access is logged. No watch is left unattended on an open bench.

Correct lubricants

Component-specific watch oils with known viscosity grades. Lubricants are rotated on their stated expiry date, not used beyond it.

Calibrated instruments

Timing machine and pressure tester are checked against reference on a scheduled basis. Readings on job sheets reflect actual measurements.

Written job record

Every job produces a paper record: condition in, work done, parts renewed, measurements taken. The owner receives a copy; the workshop retains the archive.
